All of the pictures on this page were taken by Barry George and I am very grateful to him for allowing me to publish them on the site.
First up is the famous old Commuter top fuel dragster which was driven by Tony Densham and here is an excellent shot of it in the Santa Pod pits.

A couple of action shots of Commuter on the strip.

The American Commando Drag Team fielded this immaculate 390 cubic inch Mustang and an equally smart looking 383 Barracuda.

Alan Blount's Weekend Warrior.

When was the last time you saw a Top Fuel Dragster parked on an open trailer in the street?
This is the Skilton & Frazer Third Revolution fueller which was driven by Clive Skilton.
Mick Gleadow has been in touch to say that this shot was taken outside the Beadle brothers' house in Hillingdon, west London.

The famous Alleycat Fordson panel van competition altered in the pits.

I remember this event well, Nick Pettitt tells me it was the last round of the 1973 Internationals.  A blower explosion on the Stardust funny car (caused by running out of fuel) suddenly sent the roof flying skywards and Stardust suddenly became a convertible.  Driver Allan Herridge was unhurt in this accident.  Barry was on hand to record the damage in close-up.

Barry's pictures are mainly cars but what about these three absolute gems?
This is Alf Hagon's all-conquering JAP engined top bike entry.  Alf is the unassuming looking chap in the glasses.  Believe me, appearances can be very deceptive!

Alf's best time for the quarter was 9.206 seconds set in 1968, it would be 1974 before this record was broken by John Hobbs.  Alf was also timed over a flying quarter at over 200 mph on this bike.
As I say, appearances can be deceptive.

The Stones' team was one of the real stalwarts of the sport and the last pictures on this page are of some of their cars.
Tee-Rat ran in competition altered when in its injected form (it later sprouted a blower).

Dave Stone prepares himself for another pass in this beautifully prepared class leading 8 second machine.

A unique shot taken from the team's Thames van as they push start Tee-Rat in the Santa Pod fire-up road.

Left : driver Dave Stone holding the injectors used on Tee-Rat.
Right : this picture of Tee-Rat's original bucket T body was taken in the Stones' garage.

Tender Trap was another of the team's cars which was driven by 'Daddy' Dennis Stone and later by Radio 1 DJ Dave Lee Travis.  The engine looks rather non-standard but then I suppose a 5 litre Chevrolet would!

Drag racing guru Nick Pettitt advises that this picture of Opus 1 dates from 1967 when it ran a Shorrocks blown 1500cc Ford and was driven by Cliff Jones.
