This is the third page chronicling the Top Fuel Dragsters of the early 1970s which really revolved around two men - Dennis Priddle and Clive Skilton.  In the previous pages we have seen how they matched each other year after year with new cars and 1973 was no exception although it was unique in two ways.  Firstly, both drivers went to the USA to buy new cars and even raced over there; and secondly it would be the last year of their head-to-head rivalry in Top Fuel Dragster.
1973 was a massively important year in UK drag racing and the reason was that the fans were introduced to Funny Cars US-style.  Don 'The Shoe' Schumacher and 'Paula 'Miss STP' both brought their cars over and literally blew the crowd away with their exhuberant burn outs and the sheer performance and spectacle of the cars.
