All of the pictures on this page have been submitted by Alan Peck who now lives down under in Sydney.  Fortunately for us Alan took all his photos with him when he emigrated and he has been busily scanning them for us all to enjoy.  There are some real beauties starting with . . .

. . . these two pictures of the famous Commuter dragster being pushed in the pits.  I assume that is Tony Densham pushing the car in the fire suit.

Another historic pit shot this time of Nobby Hills' Houndog 6 dragster which was driven by Movin' Mike Hutcherson.  Eagle-eyed Nick Pettitt has spotted the ex-John Woolfe Racing Whistler Scimitar GTE being pushed in the background.  Steve Stringer had this car for a short period in 1972 and painted it yellow.

The last of Nobby Hills' Top Fuel Dragsters was Houndog 8 which was usually driven by Owen Hayward.  Tog from Eurodragster tells me that this shot was taken on "Monday 11 April 1977, Easter Springnationals at Santa Pod, first round of Pro Fuel eliminations.  During the burnout there was a big ball of flame and the fire carried on as the car rolled to a halt.  I believe that the engine was rodded.  Allan Herridge in the Asphalt Alleygator was in the other lane and took the bye, can't remember the ET but the terminal was 224 mph."  Wow - how's that for memory?

Dennis Priddle (left) and Irven Axe push the Priddle, Riswick Gane and Stanford Hot Wheels sponsored dragster through a crowded Santa Pod pit in 1971.

Dennis Priddle at the controls of the Hot Wheel car in the return road at Santa Pod.

Dennis heats the tires in front of a collection of motorcycles waiting to run - they wouldn't have had long to wait!  That looks like Tony Gane dressed in blue behind the car.

Another great burn out shot by Alan.  It's a shame you can't get  shots like this anymore.

Dennis hangs out the laundry after another low seven second blast.

The Cuss & Ashby Ratcatcher competition dragster.  This car stills exists and was brought up to current specs in 2004 by Johnny Hall and Bill Felstead.  It now runs (2008) with a conventional dragster body as Ratcatcher Resurrection and is owned and driven by Terry Clifford.

The great Dutch rider Henk Vink getting rather too much grip on one of his single engined Big Spender machines and . . .

. . . over-powering the track on his double engined Kawasaki.

Alan took this excellent shot of the Ison Brothers' Wild Honey Jag-powered altered heading in entirely the wrong direction at Santa Pod.

Stripteaser started out as regular Minivan complete with steel body (left) and finished up with a one piece fibreglass funny car style unit.  The only thing that didn't change was the Jaguar motivation and its winning ways.

Tony Froome's Sundance Top Fuel Dragster.

A couple of excellent pit shots of Freddie Whittle's Shutdown AA/FA.
The picture on the left epitomises just how the original Fuel Altereds looked with the engine raised as high as possible in order to maximise weight transfer to the rear wheels.  With such a short wheelbase and high centre of gravity it is no wonder they were such evil-handling beasts.

Freddie Whittle in the near lane seems to be having trouble with traction and is slightly down to Kevin Pilling driving his Pure 7 altered.  Check out Fred leaning right forward out of the rollcage.

'Big Daddy' Don Garlits aka 'The King of the Dragsters'.
A great selection of close ups of the great man on one of his two visits to the UK during the 1970s.

On the left is a shot of Big and the Wynns Charger getting a little heat into the slicks and you might of thought the picture below is the same sort of thing . . .

. . . were it not for Nick Pettitt who spotted the face mask and injector hat and concluded that this was in fact Dennis Priddle driving Big Daddy's car with his own engine installed.  I well remember this meeting because Dennis did him proud by going quicker and faster with every run.
