All of the pictures on this page were taken by Geof Hauser,
I am very grateful to him for the opportunity of reproducing them here.

The first six pictures on this page were taken at an NDRC meeting at Blackbushe and were scanned from a contact sheet which explains the relatively poor quality.
Push starts for top fuel dragsters were the order of the day way back when and here is Dennis Priddle in the beautiful Mr Six slingshot preparing for another pass on the slippery Balckbushe strip.

Geof caught Mr Six just at the very start of its burn out in this excellent close up shot.

And here is Dennis launching Mr Six off the line, the rear wheels are spinning and the front left wheel just off the ground.

This is Clive Skilton driving his Castrol-sponsored rear engined Third Revolution Top Fuel Dragster.  Geof used to crew on this car and even drove it on a few occasions - better him than me!

The Page brothers are probably best known for their Panic! Model T competition altered but before that they campaigned this Topolino bodied altered also called Panic (the full wording on the side reads "PANIC STRICKEN CHEVY").

Another shot of the 'Panic stricken Chevy' leaving the line.  I would guess that Dave Page was driving the car.

Off across the pond once again for five pictures taken at the Supernationals held at Ontario Motor Speedway in California between 17 and 19 November 1972.
This shot, taken from well behind the start line, emphasises just what a massive facility this was.  Sadly it was subsequently re-developed.

Once again I am indebted to my resident OMS consultant Andy Barrack for info on these shots.
This is the Rain for Rent top fuel dragster burning out.

On the left is the famous Chi-Town Hustler of Coil & Minick.
I am indebted to Mark Gredzinski for identifying the car on the right of shot - it is the Doug's Headers Chevy-powered funny car driven by Dick Bourgeois who failed to make the cut.

Reversers on dragsters were not common in 1972 as this picture of the Noice & Brisette Top Fuel Dragster being manhandled demonstrates.
Bob Noice was one of several drivers who was running one of the new-fangled Donovan aluminium blocks which might have made things a little easier for the crew.

This is the WonderWagon Vega panel van funny car driven by Kelly Brown which I believe was sponsored by the people who made Wonderloaf bread.  Interestingly Wonder Bread was owned by telecoms giant ITT and their sponsorship was reported to be one of the most lucrative for a non-automotive business.

On the left we see Bernt Frederiksson's Mark 1 Cortina Footbait and the Little Blue Swede 1 (driver unknown).
On the right and below is some of the natty artwork on Bernt's car.

On the left Clive Skilton burns out in his Vauxhall VX/490-bodied funny car.
On the right Bootsie Herridge in Stardust and Clive perform side by side burn outs.

Anders Lantz's immaculate Dynapac sponsored Model T on the left against Bengt Stafberg's Gas Rat II.

The Dynapac T in the pits.

Anders in the cockpit getting ready to run.

The Dynapac T with matching El Camino tow truck, the whole operation was absolutely immaculate and it went every bit as well as it looked.
