ClassicFest Sprint, North Weald Aerodrome, 27 July 2008

I must confess my primary reason for attending the event this year was to see John Hobbs make his first full passes on The Hobbit following the recent re-build.  John's first outing on the bike this year was demonstration runs at the Mallory Park 1000 bike event earlier in the month when Acceleration Archive contributor Kelvin Fagan was on hand to record events.  You can see Kelvin's pictures by clicking here.

I missed John's first pass in the morning which was a check-out 9.9954 second lap at 139 mph which was rounded up to a very un-Hobbit like 10 flat.  The second pass was a much improved 9.34/148.  The gremlins took over on the third run when the fuel shut off mechanism decided to trigger prematurely.  The final run of the day was 9.93 seconds at 136 mph.  The pictures below show the second and third runs.
