Hi Alan - just checking out the website again and noticed a picture of Tom Laffey's Capri.  You're right - he did drop something more substantial than the original three litre in the car.  We met him when we were contemplating running a later model Ford in our altered and Tom had a bunch of parts and complete engines for sale at his shop in Birmingham.  We ultimately bought an Aussie "Boss" 302 Cleveland from him. Originally from South Africa, he managed to be in the States looking for Cleveland parts just as Gapp and Roush had a huge falling out and parted company.  He bought pretty much everything they had in their shop for next to nothing and shipped it all to Britain in several containers (including at least one aluminium Pro Stock match race motor, if memory serves me right).  The Clevelands he ran in the Capri were almost on a par with the setups that the Pro Stock teams were using at the time in the States - I can't remember his times, but it was plenty quick and sounded incredible.  I do remember, however, he lost one motor idling in the pits when the head fell of one of the brand new valves he'd just bought from the States.  Race only parts - no warranty. Ouch.
